What this template is for
An OKR (Objectives and Key Results) template gives your team a structured way to set ambitious goals and measure progress against specific outcomes. This template includes three layers — company, team, and individual OKRs — so you can align goals from top to bottom and see how each person's work connects to the organization's priorities. Use it at the start of each quarter to plan, and revisit it mid-quarter to track.
When to use this template
- Kick off Q1 planning by aligning the full team on company OKRs before cascading to team and individual goals.
- Run a mid-quarter OKR review to identify at-risk key results before it's too late to course-correct.
- Use the template in a new-hire onboarding to show how their role connects to company objectives.
- Track multiple team OKRs in parallel during a fast-growth period when priorities shift frequently.
- Present OKR progress to investors or board members in a structured, scannable format.
How to use it
- 1Start with the company objective: a single ambitious, qualitative goal that defines success for the quarter.
- 2Write two to four Key Results for each objective — specific, measurable outcomes, not tasks or activities.
- 3Cascade to team OKRs: each team objective should directly support one of the company objectives.
- 4Set individual OKRs that connect each person's focus areas to their team's objectives.
- 5Assign an owner to each Key Result so accountability is clear.
- 6Score each Key Result at the end of the quarter on a 0.0–1.0 scale. A score of 0.7 is considered a success — if you always score 1.0, your goals may not be ambitious enough.
